The company has developed a cooling solution for the dairy value chain to tackle issues of quality control, product traceability, mismanagement at dairy cooperatives, spillage and spoilage of milk which limits profits for dairy farmers.
Innovation
- In Kenya, 70 percent of dairy producers are smallholder dairy farmers, and one million people work on these family-run farms. These smallholder farmers produce 5.3 billion liters of milk each year – 30 percent of which goes to waste.
- Savanna Circuit is an engineering and IT service solution provider that has developed a cooling solution, MaziwaPlus, for the dairy value chain to tackle issues of quality control, product traceability, mismanagement at dairy cooperatives, spillage and spoilage of milk which limits profits for farmers.
- MaziwaPlus, is a solar-powered cooling unit that is mounted on motorbikes and has an intelligent battery management system for power back-up for up to 36 hours at 5 C.
- The company is currently working with 25 cooperatives in West Pokot, Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo Marakwet to collect and efficiently deliver milk from farmers to the cooperatives.

Founders Profile
Percy Lemtukei is the founder, CEO and CTO of Savanna Circuit Technologies Limited. He is a systems administrator at the county government of West Pokot, a position he held for over 2 years. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics from Rongo University College in 2016
Emmastella Gakuo is the co-founder and the COO of Savanna Circuit. She is a member of the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering LIF cohort and an alumni of the Women in Tech StanChart program. She graduated with an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation management from University of Nairobi.
